William John Tammen
August 17, 1919 — April 30, 2014
William John Tammen was born August 17, 1919, the son of John & Ella (Boike) Tammen, in Rheiderland Township. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. Bill attended school in Clara City & District 84 in Crate Township.
Bill was united in marriage to Marie Heida on December 18, 1945, in Raymond. Together they farmed in Crate Township. He was a pitcher for Crate Township District 84 baseball team which won the District Championship. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Twins Baseball and watching car races.
Bill passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at the Clara City Care Center. He was 94 years of age.
He is survived by his wife Marie of Clara City; children: Barbara (Ronald) Andresen of Litchfield; Diane Borgendale of Montevideo and Steven (Tammy) Tammen of Clara City; 8 grandchildren: Jason (Pamela) Andresen of San Diego, CA; Shannon (Justin) Reiner of Litchfield; Laura Borgendale , Anne Borgendale, Kevin Borgendale and Colleen Borgendale all of Minneapolis; Cory (Cassie) Tammen of Moorhead and Justin Tammen of Clara City; four great grandchildren: Chase Tammen, Jordan Reiner, Dylan Reiner and Quentin Reiner; and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Elizabeth Aeikens; brother Louis W. Tammen and son-in-law Jonathan Borgendale.
