In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Wayne Joseph Harguth was born on March 25, 1940 in Montevideo Hospital to Merle and Marie Harguth. He was baptized at St. Clara Catholic Church of Clara City. He attended St. Clara Catholic School and graduated from Clara City High School in 1959. Wayne grew up in Gluek, Minnesota helping his father with chores and farming. On June 24, 1961 he was united in marriage to Joyce Boike at the St. Clara Parish. To this union four children were born; Julie, Michael, Noelle and Stacy. Wayne worked doing carpentry with Joe Harguth and Howard Roelofs building many new homes and also the Cenex station in Clara City. He began farming in 1962 and continued until 2001 at which time he was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and then retired. He remained in good health until 2010 when he began chemotherapy and went into remission. In addition to farming, he was a seed corn dealer serving Supercrost & Garst Seed Companies. Wayne and Joyce enjoyed many wonderful trips in the United States and Europe. Wayne had a love for farming and woodworking. During his retirement he built a new home on Maple Lake near Alexandria. Being the woodworker he was, he cut down trees and did his own sawmilling for this project. Wayne was a perfectionist with all his skills. Wayne enjoyed Sunday drives, going to auctions with Dennis, fishing and baling hay with his grandsons, attending his granddaughter’s concerts and ball games and morning coffee with Jerry. In May of 2014, cancer set in again as he was diagnosed with lymphoma. He fought a courageous battle until he was called peacefully from this life on December 7, 2014 while under hospice care at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, Minnesota. He was 74 years old. He is survived by his wife Joyce; his children: Julie Harguth of Richfield, Michael (Pam) Harguth of Clara City, Noelle (Drumond) Bogatzki of Alexandria, Stacy (Darin) Bratsch of Danube; 8 grandchildren: Seth (Katlin) Bogatzki, Chase and Reese Bogatzki, Amber and Joshua Harguth, Kristi, Jennifer and Holly Bratsch; brother Dennis (Ruthie) Harguth; sisters: Jerlyn Harguth and Diane (Wayne) Coulter; sister-in-law RuthAnn Harguth; brother-in-law Chester (Margaret) Boike; 4 nieces and 5 nephews.
