Walter Timm Jr, 74, of Granite Falls, passed away Wednesday, February 24th at Avera in Granite Falls. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27th at 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls, with a prayer service at 7 pm, and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Walter Dennis Timm Jr. was born July 26, 1946, the son of Walter Sr. and Ella (Schmidt) Timm in Wood Lake. He was baptized on August 18, 1946 and confirmed his faith on May 1, 1960, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. Walter served his country in the United States Army National Guard from 1965 to 1970.
Walter was united in marriage to Lois Tollefson on October 22, 1966, at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Walter worked for Plews for a winter during his early years and farmed his whole life.
Walter is survived by his wife Lois; children: Larry, David (Jennifer), Deborah (Michael) Kvendru and James; grandchildren: Steven (Mallory), Mackenzie (friend Tristin Todd), Jared, Josie, Derrick (fiancé Lenaya), Tyler (fiancé Erin), Kaitlyn Timm, Jordan, Tiffany and Hailey Kvendru; great grandchildren: Ayden, Blaine, Jace Kvendru, Willow Mae Todd, Owen Lemont Timm, siblings: Charles (Marla) Timm, Kenneth (Tamara) Timm, and John (Judy) Timm,sister-in-law Darlene Timm and brother-in-law Richard Letcher; and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Marion & Norman Tollefson, sister Rebecca Letcher and brother Jerome.
