Walter Carlton Myhre was born June 21, 1938, in Montevideo, the son of Wallace & Bertha (Heiern) Myhre. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior`s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He graduated from Montevideo High School.
On October 12, 1960, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Anderson in Montevideo. Three children were born to this union, two sons Kevin and Kelly and a daughter Kimberly. They lived in Montevideo before moving to Watson and later to a farm outside of Watson where he resided until the time of his death.
Walt spent most of his adult life working in road construction, operating heavy equipment and driving truck for various construction companies. In 1977, he was forced to retire for medical reasons. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and restoring Allis-Chalmers tractors.
He is survived by his wife JoAnn; two sons: Kevin (Jane) of Montevideo, Kelly of Montevideo and Kim of St. Cloud; grandchildren: Craig Myhre (Casey) of St. Cloud, Chris Myhre of St. Cloud, Garrett and Grant Thompson of Duluth, Gabriel Thompson of Cherry Point, North Carolina, Bryan & Matthew Mainerich of Willmar, sister Lois (Jess) Martinez of Greenwood, South Carolina; as well as extended family and friends; his breakfast buddies at Coborn’s, and his best buddies Milo, Otis, Maggie and Brownie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law Alfe & Bessie Anderson, brothers-in-law Truman, Orville and Jerry Anderson.
