Due to impending weather the visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Saturday, January 16th at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls followed by a private family service. Masks and social distancing will be observed.
Wallace Anderson, 92, of Wood Lake, passed away Monday, January 11th at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne. Memorial preferred to the Granite Falls American Legion Post 69.
Wallace Lewellyn Anderson was born July 14, 1928, the son of Arthur & Selma (Ellingson) Anderson in Hanley Falls. He was baptized and confirmed at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls. Following his schooling, Wally worked as a farm hand. Wally served his country in the United States Army. He was stationed at Ft. Carson in Colorado and also served time in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1952 and then went to work for the Minneapolis-St. Louis Railroad. He also worked for the Great Northern Railroad which later became the Burlington Northern Railroad. Wally retired in 1990.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Marlow on July 16, 1977, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He enjoyed helping Bennett on the farm, doing yard work, reading local newspapers, watching football and baseball, casino gambling and playing buck. He loved spending time with his family and cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of Wood Lake, daughter Penny Binnebose (fiancé Dan Trucker) of Granite Falls, step-children: Susan Marlowe of North St. Paul, Kathleen “Bentzlin” Preuss (Tim Peterson) of Wood Lake, Sonja “Bentzlin” (Marvin) Timmons of Granite Falls, Edward (Eileen) Bentzlin Jr. of Loudon, New Hampshire; thirteen grandchildren: Adam Preuss, Eric (Jamie) Preuss, Michelle Preuss, Emily (Patrick) Melody, Benjamin (fiancé Lacey Mack) Bentzlin, Danielle (Josh) Arntz, Eddie Bentzlin, Madisen Bentzlin, Stephen Bentzlin, Brady Binnebose, Hayley Binnebose, Margaret “Maggie” Trucker and Owen Trucker; nine great grandchildren: Elias “Jack” Preuss, Judah Preuss, Royce Preuss, Karver Preuss, Kyrie Balton, Brookston Melody, Trevanti Arntz, Darien Arntz and Aviella Arntz; one brother Douglas Anderson of Cottonwood; and nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur & Selma Anderson, siblings: Darrold Anderson, Audrey (Morris) Listul, Adeline (Bennett) Torke, and nephew Glenn Listul, in-laws Leonard & Rosalie Marlow, step son Cpl Stephen Bentzlin, sisters-in-law: Phyllis (Hughie) Burton, Jeanette Marlow and brother-in-law Leonard Marlow Jr., son-in-law Marvin Timmons.
