Virginia “Ginny” Ryer, 85, of Montevideo, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Luther Haven Nursing Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 19th at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Friday.
Virginia Ann Ryer was born February 11, 1939, the daughter of Louell and Lucille (Marble) Beltz in Montevideo. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Ginny attended school in Montevideo and graduated with the Class of 1957.
Ginny worked as the Assistant Manager at Hardees in Montevideo, then moved to Minneapolis where she was a receptionist at Sage Realty in St. Louis Park. Returning to Montevideo she worked at Innovex, Luther Haven, Deb’s Super Club and Fiesta City Liquors. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She taught religion classes, was on a bowling league and also a slow pitch softball league. She loved to visit with people and playing cards with friends. She started walking every day and put on many miles with her dog Murphy.
Ginny is survived by her daughter Kelly (Jeff) Krugerud, three grandchildren: Derek Bogan, Samantha Bogan and Shannon Siegert, 7 great grandchildren: Kylee, Nevaeh, Jace, Bryce, Adelynn, Aaliyah and Samuel; two brothers: William Beltz and Robert Beltz; and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sheryl Ann Stolen and siblings: Lucille Beltz, John Beltz and Mary Beltz.
