Violet Lucille Cole was born October 18, 1918 at her home in Lac Qui Parle County, near Boyd, Minnesota, the daughter of Gottlieb and Elsie Kelm. She passed away Sunday September 14, 2008 at the Granite Falls Hospital. She attained the age of 89 years. Violet was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Tyro Township. She attended Clarkfield School until the death of her father and then country school near Canby. Violet received her GED from Granite Falls High School and then continued her education becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. Violet was united in marriage to Rudolph O. Cole on September 27, 1936 in Tyro Township at her grandparent's farm. To this union four children were born. They farmed in the Hanley Falls and Hazel Run area for 22 years. They moved to Granite Falls in 1958 and Violet worked at the Granite Falls Hospital. Violet was a member of Granite Falls Lutheran Church and was active in WELCA. She was also active in the Homemakers club and enjoyed playing cards and quilting. She is survived by her four children, two daughters and two sons: Marlene Faul of North Newton, Kansas, Roger and wife Susanne of Bloomington, Minnesota; Barbara Kozak and husband Kenneth of Oconto Falls, Wisconsin; and Larry and wife Linda of Colleyville, Texas. Eight grandchildren, Sharon (Faul) Morris, Cynthia (Cole) Nelson, Stephen Cole, Mary Faul, Michael Cole, Michelle Kozak, Scott Cole, and Christina (Cole) Davis. 16 great-grandchildren: Alyssa and Taylor Morris, Tyler Nelson, Kyle Yurek, Grace Cole, Adison Cole, Samuel Nelson, Kathryn Cole, Conner Davis, Brianna Cole, Brooke Cole, Trey Morris, Caitlyn Davis, Jackson Cole, Regan Morris, and Thomas Cole. She is also survived by one brother, Alfred Kelm, of North Branch, Minnesota, two sisters-in-law, Delores Kelm, Portland, Oregon; Elvera Cole, Hanley Falls, Minnesota; one brother-in-law Harold Cole, New London, Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Husband Ruldolph in 1986, her parents, and three brothers.
