Viola Koenen

Viola May Koenen was born December 14, 1917, the daughter of Wesley & Fannie Goldhorn, in George, Iowa. She attended school in Iowa. She was united in marriage to George T. Koenen on September 25, 1936, in George, Iowa. Through the years, Viola & George lived in various locations: Little Rock, Iowa, Montevideo, Verndale and then Clara City in 1964. This union was blessed with five children: Donald, DuWayne, Kathy, Dean & Dennis. Viola was employed outside of the home with Jennie O Foods in Willmar. She worked there for approximately 33 years, retiring in 1993. She enjoyed baking, canning and socializing with friends and family. Viola passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012, at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. She was 94 years of age. She is survived by her children: DuWayne (La Vonne) of Granite Falls; Kathy (Ron) Hanson of Harvey, North Dakota; Dean (Brenda) of Marshall and Dennis (Ruth) of Willmar; daughter-in law Millie Koenen of Clara City; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one sister Mavis Kampen of Dawson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Â?BillÂ?, son Donald, grandson Douglas and two sisters: Lois Abels and Vera Abels.
