Viola Marie Fischer was born on October 19, 1926, in Crate Township, Minnesota, the daughter of Jacob and Freda (Hayunga) Aalfs. She was baptized on February 5, 1927 and confirmed in her faith at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. Viola attended country school, District #84.
Viola was united in marriage to Freddie Fischer on March 10, 1948, at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. The couple made their home on a farm near Clara City and they were blessed with three children, David, James and Cindy. In 1964, Viola and Fred moved into Clara City and a few years later Viola went to work at VSC Warehouse.
Viola was a faithful member at Bethany Reformed Church where she enjoyed serving with the Bethany Church Women and assisted with the Mission Quilters.
Family was the most important thing to Viola and the things she devoted her time to revolved around being with those she cherished. She loved to take drives with Fred and anyone else who would join them to see if they could find a road they hadn’t been on before. Viola enjoyed time at the lake, fishing, and cruising in the boat. She liked to bake, sew and was proud to have donated over 8 gallons of blood to help others in need. Viola will be remembered for her great strength; whatever life brought her way, she made the best of the situation.
