Vernon Cobb

January 12, 1917 — October 2, 2013

Vernon Glenn Cobb was born January 12, 1917, the son of Glenn & Verona Cobb, in Independence, Iowa. Vern was raised in Decorah, Iowa and graduated from the Decorah High School. He went on to attend Luther College. Vern served his country during World War II as a Navigator Bombardier. Vern was united in marriage to Agatha Miller on September 11, 1939, in Decorah, Iowa. They moved to the Twin Cities in 1940, when Vern started working for the Treasury Department. They moved to Granite Falls in 1949. He retired from the Treasury Department after 33 years of service. Vern had a passion for flying, was a member of the Granite Falls American Legion and the St. Andrew Cemetery Board. Vern passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was 96 years of age. He is survived by his two sons: Michael of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Jeff of Granite Falls; four grandchildren: Kris (and Holly), Jeffrey (and Elva), Amber (and Dominic) and Jackie (and Jake); four great grandchildren: Hailey, Emily, Garrett and Delaney; and extended family and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Agatha, sister Marion Kepple and step brother Robert Ellickson.
