Vernon Charles Blindt was born August 3, 1924 in Fairmont, Minnesota the son of Theodore and Florence (Nutt) Blindt. He passed away December 7, 2016 at the Granite Falls Manor.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and lived in Fairmont before moving to Granite Falls at the age of seven. Bud attended school and graduated a proud Kilowatt from Granite Fall High School.
Bud proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII receiving his honorable discharge in 1946.
On June 10, 1950 he was united in marriage to Joyce Enstad at Stony Run Lutheran Church. They made their home in Granite Falls and Bud began working at the Lumber Yard.
He was a skilled wood worker known for making frames for quilts. Bud also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and following high school sports. He especially enjoyed baseball, was a member of the Minnesota Baseball Hall of Fame, the Minnesota High School Baseball Hall of Fame and was involved in the Granite Falls baseball program. Bud served as a caretaker for the field and was active with town team baseball and was the official score keeper from 1985 until 2010.
Bud is survived by his sister: Bette Wrucke of Fridley; brother: Joe (Ruth) Blindt of Avon Park, Florida; several nieces and nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce in 2003; parents Theodore and Florence Blindt; sister, Phyllis Reek, and a brother Donald Blindt.
