Luverne Jon Vosberg was born June 4, 1946, the son of Lester & Doris (Eng) Vosberg, in Tracy, Minnesota. He was baptized at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Dovray. He graduated from Westbrook High School in June of 1964. Vern attended the Medical Institute of Minnesota, graduating in 1965.
Vern was united in marriage to Voni Villa on June 18, 1966, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook. To this union three daughters were born: Robyn, Shannon & Heather. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. Vern worked as a Medical Laboratory Technician for 50 years. He began his career at the hospital in Wessington Springs, South Dakota. He worked at the Watertown Hospital in Watertown, Minnesota for 12 years and for the past 36 years at the Granite Falls Hospital. Vern was also a member of the ambulance squad for 33 years.
Vern was a member of the Granite Falls Lions Club, where he served as Treasurer. He was proud to receive the Melvin Jones Award in 2008. He was also an avid golfer. On Tuesdays, Vern could be found on the golf course with his usual group. His passion for the camaraderie made golf much more than a game.
Vern was everyone’s friend. He never met a stranger. He loved people and people loved him. He will be greatly missed.
Vern passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester. He was 69 years of age.
He is survived by his wife Voni; three daughters: Robyn (Bernie Torgerson) Vosberg-Torgerson of Cambridge; Shannon (Rick) Gossen of Brooten; and Heather Vosberg of Granite Falls; six grandchildren: Katelyn Torgerson, Brady McClenahan, Mackenzie Torgerson, Jaden Gossen, Jacqueline Gossen and Jenna Gossen, one sister Denise (Dwayne) Eichner of Dovray; two brothers: Marlan (Donna) Vosberg of Elkhorn, Wisconsin and Loren (Marilyn) Vosberg of Winnebago; and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
