Todd Robert Haats was born on December 14, 1964 in Montevideo, Minnesota to Stan and Kathy Haats. He was baptized at Our Saviors Lutheran Church and confirmed at the Maynard Lutheran Church. During his high school years, Todd participated in wrestling and football. He graduated from Maynard High School in 1983. Following high school, he attended Pipestone Vo-Tech for masonry. Todd enlisted in the Air Force on May 15, 1985. He was a crew chief/head of maintenance on C-130’s. During his years of service he was stationed at Lackland AFB in Texas, Yokota AFB in Japan, and Hickam AFB in Hawaii. While in Hawaii he met his wife Iwalani where they were married in 1990. Todd served his country in 3 tours of Operation Desert Storm. He was then stationed at Davis/Monthan AFB in Tucson where he retired from the Air Force on October 1, 2005 after 21 years of service. Todd was active in his church and faithfully attended Wednesday night Bible study, his Christian faith was very important to him. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. After leaving Minnesota he remained an avid Vikings fan. Todd had a special love of animals; his pets were a big part of his life, which was a testament to his caring and compassionate nature. On Monday, February 29th, Todd passed away at his home. He is survived by his wife Iwalani of Tucson, AZ; his parents Stan and Kathy Haats of Maynard, MN; his sister Tanya (& Steve) Shogren of Lakeville, MN; He is also survived by nieces- Kailey and Bergen Shogren, Hannah Haats and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Troy, his grandparents Melvin and Theoline Hegna, and Bert and Millie Haats. Todd will be remembered by his kind and generous heart and his friendly outgoing personality.
