Terry Kent Schearer was born on December 1, 1942, in Decatur, IN, the son of Edward and DeVona (Kleine) Schearer. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Decatur and attended school at Adams County Elementary and St. John's Christian Day Schools. He also attended Madison-Marion High School in Decatur. Terry proudly served his country in the United States Navy for twenty years, receiving his transfer to Naval Fleet Reserve in 1980 with an honorable discharge. On January 6, 1975, Terry was united in marriage to Norma Jean Moseng in Charleston, SC. Terry enjoyed being outdoors doing chores around his place. He liked to garden, use his computer and spend time with his family. Terry was a member of the Granite Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Granite Falls American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans and the Cooties. He participated for many years with the local military funeral honor guard. On Monday evening, December 17, 2007, while at his residence, Terry passed away from an apparent heart attack. He was 65 years of age. He is survived by his wife Norma, of Hanley Falls, MN; his two sons- Scott (& friend Jackie) Schearer of Maynard, MN and Kent (& friend Rosita) Schearer of Granite Falls, MN; 2 grandchildren: Steven Albertson and Harlie Schearer; his mother- DeVona Schearer of Virginia; 2 sisters- Coleen of Ft. Wayne, IN and Shawn (& Mike) Eller of Virginia; 1 brother- Brian (& Janie) Schearer of Decatur, IN and several nieces, nephews & extended family. He was preceded in death by his father and one niece- Melinda Craig.
