Terri Schweer

Terri Lou Schweer was born on February 6, 1949, in Montevideo, the daughter of Melford ‘Murph’ and Ruth E. Simonson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1967.
On July 13, 1968, Terri was united in marriage to Craig Schweer in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Terri worked in the banking industry all of her adult life. She began her career at the First National Bank in Marshall in 1969. After returning from living in Australia for two years, she worked at Metropolitan Federal (formerly First Federal Savings & Loan) and for the past 20 years at Klein Bank (formerly First National Bank) in Montevideo. In her 45 years of faithful service, Terri had the reputation of being honest, hardworking and empathetic to the needs and situations of her customers.
Terri enjoyed baking, dining out, traveling, photography, gardening, fishing and spending time with her family and friends at the family cabin on Lake Lida near Pelican Rapids. She cherished her trips to the sunny West Coast to visit Erika, the busy East Coast to see Graham and her grandchildren, and Colorado to spend time with her brothers. She was a faithful member of the First Congregational Church in Montevideo where she could always be counted on to prepare homemade gravy and trays of baked goods for church functions. She was also a member of the Montevideo VFW Auxiliary.
Terri will always be remembered for her endearing smile, her upbeat personality and her genuine compassion and care for all those she came in contact with. Terri died peacefully after a determined bout with lung cancer at her residence on Friday, June 6, 2014, following one last memorable stay with Craig at their cabin. She was 65 years of age.
Survivors include her husband Craig of Montevideo, her children- Graham (& Sarah) Schweer of Lawrence Township, NJ, and Erika Schweer of Redondo Beach, CA; 3 grandchildren- Anna Schweer, Quinn Schweer and Ewen Schweer; 3 brothers- Michael Simonson of Highlands Ranch, CO, Steven (& Natasha) Simonson of Littleton, CO and Mark Simonson of Highlands Ranch, CO; 3 aunts- Janice (& Ken) Olsen of Montevideo, Blanche (& Phil) Jordahl of Dawson, and Ione Norby of Denver, CO; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
