Teresa Bjornstad, age 92, went to her eternal home in heaven on Monday, May 11, 2020, at her residence in Clarkfield, Minnesota. A Memorial Service will be held July 10, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo.
Teresa Evangeline (Reed) Bjornstad was born on December 19, 1927 to Edward and Clara (Sauer) Reed of Montevideo, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm in rural Montevideo, with her 13 siblings. This is where she learned the value of hard work and dedication to her family.
Teresa worked at various places throughout her life; Electric Maid Bakery, Montgomery Ward, Granite Falls Bank (20+ years), and was a Personal Care assistant, where she enjoyed caring for others.
In 1956 Teresa moved to Granite Falls and was blessed with 4 children, Ronald, Sheila, Tami, and Douglas. Before moving to Valhalla Apartments in 2016, she was living at the Riverview Apartments. There she thoroughly enjoyed her walks across the bridge and trips to the local Dollar Store.
Teresa was a lifelong member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and served as a volunteer for various activities throughout the church. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it. She loved helping others and had a servant’s heart.
Teresa never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune and watched the Hallmark channel for hours on end. Reading the local newspapers, doing crosswords puzzles, and clipping recipes were some of her favorite pastimes. There wasn’t a time that she didn’t want to play a good game of cards, especially, Kings in the Corner. Remember no cheating!
Teresa’s family meant everything to her, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her witty sense of humor was her trademark. One of her favorite sayings, “This too Shall Pass,” was a great comfort to her family. She truly had a heart of gold and a way with people.
Teresa is survived by her children, Sheila Lavoie of Granite Falls, Tami (David) Menk of Clarkfield, Douglas Bjornstad of Granite Falls; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Bjornstad of Watson; grandchildren, Jon Bjornstad, Bernadette Lavoie, Travis (Tina) Lavoie, Tangela Lavoie, Natasha Lynne, Chantal (Isaac) Johnson, Joshua (Heather) Lynne, Lucas Lynne; great grandchildren, Amara Bjornstad, Spencer Bjornstad, Felini Lavoie, Ellanor Lynne, Leighton Kepner, Charles Kepner, Raeya Johnson, Elsie Johnson, Liam Lynne, and Jordan Lynne; sister, Patricia Menke; sisters-in-law, Burness Reed, Germaine Reed; as well as other relatives and friends.
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Clara Reed; son, Ronald; brothers, George, Ralph, Frank, Vince, Robert, Walter, James; sisters, Rita, Gertrude, Mildred, Dorothy, and Mary.
