Sylvia Graves, 97, formerly of Montevideo, died Saturday, June 9th at the Golden Living Center in Excelsior. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 13th at 11 am at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Arrangements are with the Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Montevideo for Sylvia Graves. Sylvia Graves was born on November 17th, 1914, the daughter of August and Christina (Buchholtz) Hermann, in Sykeston, ND. Her family moved to Fessenden, North Dakota, where she graduated from Fessenden High School. Sylvia was working as a waitress in the Brainerd area when she met and married Vernon Graves on July 5th, 1937. Vernon and Sylvia lived in Montevideo, Minnesota until his death in 1988. She then moved to Minneapolis to be near her family. Sylvia enjoyed cooking, baking, drinking coffee, visiting with family and friends, playing cards, dancing, listening to music, and watching her "shows" on TV (including many sporting events). Sylvia passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Excelsior. She was 97 years of age. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Charles) Hoff of Prior Lake, MN; granddaughters Lisa (Bradley) Burnham of Edina, MN, and Amy (John) Webb of Crystal, MN; great-grandchildren Tanner and Reese Burnham, and Brynn Webb. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews, as well as grand-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and her brothers and sisters ? Arthur, Henry, Gordon, Bill, Harry, Allen, Edith, Lila, and Violet.
