Sylvan Elmer Kissner was born March 14, 1912, the son of Arthur and Emily (Lowinske) Kissner, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. The family moved to the Echo area and then south of Belview. He attended country school and was confirmed in Sheridan Lutheran Church. He farmed with his father. Sylvan was united in marriage to Frances La Vern Boklep on October 25, 1934. Together they lived on SylvanÂ?s family farm for four years, until they moved southeast of Renville, where he farmed for 26 years. In 1965, they moved to Granite Falls where he did carpentry work for ten years, before retiring. Sylvan passed away on Friday, April 17, 2009, at the Granite Falls Manor. He was 97 years of age. He is survived by his wife Frances; children: Dennis (Darlene) Kissner of Redwood Falls; Robert (Jolene) Kissner of Ham Lake; Sharon (Denny) Bannon of Chino, California; Elaine Kissner (special friend, Shawn Casserly) of Minneapolis; Vernon (Janice) Kissner of Minneapolis; Kenneth (Lori) Kissner of Pensacola, Florida; 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three children: Ronald Kissner, Darlene Peters and Judy Kissner; and one granddaughter Dorene Kissner.
