Susan Holien

Susan Jane Holien was born July 11, 1945, the daughter of Kenneth and Alma (Lecy) Skalbeck, in Sacred Heart. She was baptized and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church.
Susan was united in marriage to Duane Holien at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart, July 3, 1967. She worked for Victor Fluid Power for many years. She loved spending time at their cabin on Nest Lake (Happy Hour held especially fond memories and many stories). She enjoyed bus trips with the girls, watching Linx basketball and spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughter.
Susan passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at her residence in Granite Falls. She was 73 years of age.
She is survived by her son Jeremy (Jennifer) Holien of Harrisburg, South Dakota; three grandsons: Brandon Anderson of Waterford City, North Dakota and Parker and Spencer Rosburg of Harrisburg, South Dakota; three granddaughters: Chrystal Holien of Granite Falls and Arryanna and Elena Rosburg of Harrisburg South Dakota; and a great-grand daughter Elli Holien of Granite Falls; brother Jerry Skalbeck of Laguna Vista, Texas; sister Karen (Gordon) Healy of Glencoe and a niece Karla Gottfried of Watertown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Duane in 2018, brothers Keith Skalbeck and one in infancy.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 13th at 10:30 am at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
