Steven Charles Ladner, born September 25, 1954, in Granite Falls, Minnesota, the son of John and Irene (Lerschen) Ladner. Steve was baptized and confirmed at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Granite Falls. Steve graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1972 and St. Cloud State University in 1976 with a Business Degree.
After graduation, Steve moved to Wyoming and worked in the oil fields. Steve returned to Granite Falls and opened up the Sawmill Builder’s Supply. Following a devastating fire and after many years of hard, dedicated work and building a successful business, he made the hard choice to sell. Steve then did some “Debbie duties” and finished up Sawmill business. Following that Steve did maintenance work at Henry Hill Apartments and currently at MN West College. Steve also enjoyed going to Mankato on Fridays and picking up freight for Jeff Cobb, Granite True Value. On April 12th, 1991, Steve and Deb were married at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church. They raised and loved their daughters, Amanda and Kelly. They have one grandson, Brendan, and are blessed that he is such an important and special part of their lives.
Steve loved to ride his motorcycle and looked forward to Sturgis every year. Steve and his dad, John, went out for breakfast every Thursday morning and shared freshly baked Long John’s with his mom every Tuesday morning.
Other enjoyments included camping, vacationing and spending time with family and friends, playing Buck and “Bean Bag Toss” and always “heckling” those he played against. Steve was known for his big heart and zest for life. He loved nick names and colorful sayings. He was everybody’s volunteer.
Steve is survived by his wife, Deb; daughters Amanda and Kelly; grandson Brendan; parents John & Irene Ladner; brother Bob (Dolly) Ladner; sisters Sue (Steve) London, Joan (Brent) Hughes and special sister Diane Ladner; nephews Tom (Hilda) Ladner, Tony (Stephanie) Ladner and Peyton Hughes; nieces Alexa Hughes and Anne (Tim) Lindig; great nephews Adam Steven Lindig and Jondo Ladner; great niece Julia Ladner.
