Stanley Meyer, age 87, of Clara City, Minnesota passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the Clara City Assisted Living. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 1:30 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Stanley Meyer was born July 30, 1934, the son of Herman Sr and Ida (Karsjens) Meyer, in Clara City. He was baptized in September of 1934 at Bunde Christian Reformed Church. He attended country school and graduated from the Clara City High School.
He was united in marriage to Virgene Prekker on June 1, 1953, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church parsonage. He worked for the Big V Store in Clara City. They moved to Montevideo where he was employed with Torgerson Men’s Clothing and retired from Welker’s Office Supply. During his spare time, Stan enjoyed archery and riding his motorcycle on several trips, with Virgene, around the country. He was a member of the Hawk Creek Archery Club, Monte Archery Club and the Willmar Archery Club. He was inducted into the Minnesota Archery Hall of Fame and was always ready to mentor young archers. He was an avid hunter, creative handyman and innovator. During retirement Stan and Virgene moved back to Clara City.
Stan passed away on Thursday, October 28th at his residence in Clara City. He was 87 years of age.
He is survived by his wife Virgene; children: Vicki (Bill) Pavlish, Pam (Arlyn) Rice, Scott (Kim) Skaare-Meyer, Tim Meyer (friend Jacqueline Knight) and Lori (Mark) Buettner; grandchildren: Jeremy (Tracy), Justin (Bridget), Josh (Allie), Katie (Jason), Dan (Heather), Michelle (Tony), Melanie (Jason), Michael (Elizabeth), Austin, Derek and Melissa; 18 great grandchildren; brother Ernie (Ardy) Meyer; and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and six brothers.
Memorials preferred to Rice Hospice, Hawk Creek Archery Club or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
