Stanley Gerald Williams was born on Christmas Eve, 1931 in Clinton, Minnesota to Freda and Nathan Williams. He died at his home on Sunday, July 20th after a courageous battle with cancer.
Stan was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church and graduated with the Clinton High School Class of 1949. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota, entered the United States Army in 1952 and served during the Korean Conflict in radio communications until his honorable discharge in 1955. On July 26, 1958, Stan exchanged wedding vows with Jacquelyn Krogman at St. Adrians Catholic Church in Adrian, Minnesota.
Stan spent most of his working career in the transportation industry. The family moved to Willmar and to southern Illinois for several years before settling in Montevideo where he worked for Curtis Trucking. After seventeen years of driving, he semi-retired as a bus driver and handyman for the Montevideo School District #129. He was a confirmed member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a long standing 58 year member of the American Legion.
Cherishing his memory are his devoted wife of fifty-six years, Jacquelyn; their children: Dawn of Montevideo, Linda of Bloomington, Douglas and his wife Carol of North Pole, Alaska, and Steve of Montevideo; 6 grandchildren: Derick Schuetz and Louise Tweeter of Eagan, Tyler Schuetz and Jessica Olson of St. Paul Park, Corey and Jenna Schuetz of Farmington, Elizabeth Williams of Minneapolis, Matthew and Kimberly Williams of North Pole, Alaska; great grandsons: Cooper, Chase, Mason and Miles; his brother Dale and wife Eileen Williams of Eagan, sister Verna Scheldorf and special friend Dale Anderson of Alexandria, sister-in-law Robenia Williams of Alexandria, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Manley, his sister Ann Talley and his brother-in-law Keith Scheldorf.
