Shirley Alice Christenson was born on May 31st, 1946 to Gordon and Alice Enevoldsen. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church where she remained a lifelong member. Shirley attended country school until 6th grade, and then graduated from Montevideo High School in 1964.
Shirley was employed by the State of Minnesota Unemployment Agency in Montevideo directly out of high school. She was united in marriage to Maurice Lawrence Kocher (Larry) on March 16th, 1969. Together they had two sons: Kirby and Tracy. After her sons were born, she worked at Trailways Cafe as a waitress for 26 years. She remarried on August 29th, 1992 to Ross Christenson. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends. In 2008, she suffered a stroke which prevented her from living life the way she loved.
Shirley passed away July 28th, 2015 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo where she lived for the last 2 1/2 years of her life.
She is survived by her sons Kirby and special friend Julie Nolte of Montevideo, Tracy of Granite Falls, a sister Arlene of Willmar, 9 grandchildren: David Kocher of Maynard, Andrew Kocher (Ashley) of Maynard, Zachary Gilbertson (Mandy) of Montevideo, Krystina Kocher of Montevideo, Victoria Kocher of Montevideo, Taylor Tripp of St. Paul, Cherish Kocher of Mankato, Timothy Kocher of Montevideo, Julia Kocher of Montevideo; and 3 great grandchildren: Dominick, Kaci, and Jason.
Preceding her in death were her parents Gordon and Alice, and first husband Larry.
