Sharon Krogstad

Sharon Krogstad, age 64, of Granite Falls passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church, interment will take place in the Spring. Visitation will be held on Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
Sharon Ann Krogstad was born on October 11, 1957, in Slayton, Minnesota, the daughter of Franklin and Darlene (Wagner) Balster. She grew up in Wilmont where she was baptized and confirmed in her faith. Sharon began her education at the Wilmont Elementary School and later went to Worthington school where she graduated in 1975. She went to the Granite Falls Technical College pursuing a degree as a legal secretary.
It was at college that she first met John Krogstad, but life sent them in different directions though not for long. A canoe trip down the Minnesota River brought Sharon and John back together and on December 9, 1996 they were married in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sharon started working for Nobles County in Minnesota and dedicated her working career becoming the County Auditor and Treasurer there. She and John volunteered in many ways for the local chapter of the National Turkey Federation. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Granite Falls Living at Home Block Program. Sharon enjoyed living life and was very athletic. She enjoyed bowling, playing softball, pool and golfing. If you asked her, she would tell you she was an excellent dancer. Sharon will be remembered for her strength of character.
Sharon is survived by her husband, John Krogstad of Granite Falls; mother-in-law, June Krogstad of Granite Falls; siblings, Jeff (Connie) Balster, Cathy Balster, Linda (Keith) Sorenson, Laurie (Steven) Wieneke, Mark (Julie) Balster, Michael (Mindy) Balster; sister-in-law, Candance Balster; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenny Krogstad, Paul (Penny) Krogstad, Rachelle (Karl) Anderson; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Darlene Balster; father-in-law, Jerry Krogstad; brother, Steven Balster; niece, Jessica Balster.
