Sharon Raye Benson Koenen was born at home in rural Murdock, Minnesota to Raymond and Selma (Walleen) Benson. She joined her older brothers Stanford and David. She lived on the farm with her family until she graduated from Kerkhoven High School in 1961.

Sharon was employed at several different places during her life. She gave her all at these places and loved doing it.
During her life, Sharon and Dale did a lot of extensive traveling. They also loved Civil War Reenacting. Sharon would play the role of Sarah, “a Civil War wife.” They did this for about 15 years.
Sharon will be remembered for a good laugh, her wonderful baking, especially her donuts, her flower gardens and of course her celebration of Specken Ditens on New Year’s Day. Sharon and Dale opened their home to all the lovers of that special parade. Sharon also loved her family, reading, and garage sales.
