Shanon Kaye Collins was born July 19, 1963 in Morris Minnesota, to James and Peggy Collins of Clontarf, Minnesota. She resided most of her life in Clontarf.Shanon was baptized and confirmed at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Clontarf. She attended elementary school in Clontarf, and then transferred to the Benson School system. Shanon grew up with a strong love of animals. She was known for her "rescue" efforts. Shanon and her friends rode horses a great deal when younger, and she was considered a skilled rider. Shanon enjoyed reading, watching movies and was a talented musician. She could sing and accompany herself on the guitar. She would perform "Me and Bobby McGee" with very little encouragement needed. Shanon worked for many years as a cook at several local supper clubs, and restaurants. Her Klub was legendary, and the recipe a well-guarded secret.Throughout her life Shanon could be outspoken and feisty. When she learned she had stage-4 lung cancer last April, she was determined to beat the odds. She lost her fight with cancer September 10, 2013. Shanon is survived by her sister Shawn (and Jim Kidd), her daughter Hannah Collins, and her sister Colleen (and Dave) Mazurek. Shanon was preceded in death by her grandparents, Phil and Grace Collins, Hans and Gina Rice, her parents James and Peggy Collins, and her brother, Scott Collins.
