Sandra Darlean (Clausen) Ryer, age 81, of Granite Falls, MN died peacefully with family surrounding her on March 16, 2018. Sandy was born in Chicago, IL to Raymond and Adeline (Peterson) Clausen on July 4, 1936. She attended Chicago Elementary and graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1954. On March 5, 1955, she married Wendell Ryer. She worked for a period of time at Swift Creamery and Fiesta Ballroom in Montevideo, MN, and was a lunch lady at Granite Falls Public. In 1975, Sandy and Wendell started Ryer Plumbing and Heating, where she worked as the bookkeeper until her retirement. Her good hearted, fun loving spirit was a blessing to many, and she spent many hours dancing to old time music and riding motorcycle. Sandy and Wendell had matching motorcycles that she learned to drive at the age of 45. Sandy’s favorite place to be was on the water, whether at the lake with the family or traveling the ocean. She had a love for her pet dogs, especially Pixie.
Tremendous and heartfelt thanks go to the truly exceptional staff at Granite Falls Health Center Nursing Home, who provided much more than nursing care for Sandy, but also provided a peaceful and compassionate environment during her transition from this life to the next.
Her heart of gold will be missed by her children Yvonne (Neal) Eggebraaten of Granite Falls, Kyle (Carrie) Ryer of Granite Falls; her grandchildren Katherine (Matthew) Zempel, Christina (Eric) Nerdahl, Barrett (Ann) Eggebraaten, Chelsey (Joseph) Guzman, Paige Ryer (Carlos Esquivel); great grandchildren Jonas and Ian Zempel, Noah and Noel Eggebraaten; sister Yvonne Mordvedt, brother and sisters-in-law Judith Ryer, Jerome (Denise) Ryer, Marcia Halvorson (David Sturges); and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents; husband Wendell; brothers-in-law Val Gene Ryer, Robert Halvorson, and best friend Marie Anderson.
