Ruth Johnson, 89, of Clara City, passed away on Sunday April 24th, at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 27th at 11:00 am at Bethany Reformed Church. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5 to 7:00 pm at Bethany Reformed Church and will continue one hour prior to services on Wednesday.

Ruth Marcia Johnson was born January 31, 1933, the daughter of Herman & Tomka (Ammerman) Wearda, in Rhiederland township, Chippewa County. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Reformed Church. Ruth attended District 55 Country School and graduated from the Clara City High School in 1950.

Ruth was united in marriage to George “Gladwin” Johnson on July 8, 1955, at Bethany Reformed Church. They were the first couple to be married in the new church. Together they farmed and raised a family. Throughout their whole life, Ruth and Gladwin worked side by side. Before starting her family, she worked outside the home at Yack & Meyer, Clara City and Sacred Heart Bank and the Minnesota Falls Elevator. She was very active with her church and Christ was the cornerstone of her life. She sang in the choir and was a Sunday School teacher. Ruth also was involved with the Ladies Aide and bible studies. Following her husband's accident, she became his caretaker. Ruth loved her family and loved time spent with them and visiting with her grandchildren.

Ruth passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at her residence. She was 89 years of age.

She is survived by her children: Tom (Melanie) Johnson of Clara City, Rob (Kari) Johnson of Sacred Heart and Naomi (Bud) Jermeland of Forest City, Iowa; her grandchildren: Alex Jermeland of Eagan, Andrew (Tabitha) Jermeland of Forest City, Iowa, Grace (Grant) Nichols of West Des Moines, Iowa, Christohper Jermeland of Bondurant, Iowa, Michelle Jermeland of Forest City, Iowa, Nathaniel (Jade) Johnson of Elk River, Daniel Johnson of Renville, JoAnna Johnson of Clara City, Tomka Johnson of Sacred Heart, Severine Johnson of Sacred Heart and Signora Johnson of Sacred Heart; sister-in-law Virginia Wearda; several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings: Lena (Harm) Duitsman, Dick (Sara) Wearda, Hilda (John) Duitsman, Jeanette (Bill) Meyer, Pearl (Bill) Duitsman, James (Darlene) Wearda and Paul Wearda.
