Ronald Lee Erickson was born on July 7, 1935 in Montevideo, MN to parents Ray and Lila (Skogen) Erickson. He was one of two siblings. On June 11, 1955, Ronald and Gloria (Kraakaas) were united in marriage and their union was blessed with five daughters. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church from early childhood, having been baptized and confirmed there. He served as an usher until his health started failing.Ron joined the National Guards in 1953 and was honorably discharged as Sergeant on July 16, 1962. He started working with Peterson Brothers Construction in 1953 and later went into partnership in dirt construction business with his father. After his father Ray passed away in November of 1971, Ron went into partnership with Bill Gordon until his retirement in 2000. When Ron wasn't working, you would find him in his garage, sometimes late at night, always painting or fixing on older cars, trucks, or whatever for his daughters, neighbor kids and friends. He enjoyed what he did and took pride in his work. He was happiest when he could spend time at their lake place at Big Stone and spending time with his family and grandchildren. In October 2010, Ron was admitted to the Montevideo Hospital and in December transferred to Minneota Manor. While a resident of Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo, he received Hospice care from August 2011 until he was reunited with his Lord on Friday afternoon, September 9th. He was 76.Ron is survived by his wife Gloria of Montevideo; daughters: Tamara and her husband Don Nelson of Prior Lake, Kim and her husband Kevin Brovold of Alexandria, Brenda and her special friend Eric Wollschlager of Montevideo, Dawn and her husband Curt VanderBroek of Delano; grandchildren: Kjerstin (Nick) Kersting, Kayla Nelson, Jeremy Brovold & Jenn Duncan, Justin (Angie) Brovold, Kelly & Jena VanderBroek; great grandchildren: Regan, Lucas and Ayla Brovold. Also surviving are his sister Betty Gustafson of Golden Valley, 1 brother-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law. Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant daughter, and his brothers-in-law: Bob Gustafson and Harvey Slettedahl.
