Roger Michael Olson was born October 27, 1950 in Granite Falls, the son of LeRoy “Hoppy” and Elda (Brettin) Olson. He peacefully passed away July 1, 2016 at the U of M Hospital, Minneapolis, following a courageous battle with lung disease.
Roger was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Granite Falls. He attended and graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1968 and Granite Falls Area Technical School in 1971. He was united in marriage to LuAnn Kratzke August 8, 1988.
He retired after 33 years with the City of Granite Falls as a maintenance technician after which he was the custodian for 6 years at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, playing and watching baseball and tinkering with anything that needed fixing. He spent many hours building and maintaining “Dueling Creeks” their home in the country. He most enjoyed being with family and friends, sharing his one liners and listening to music from the 50’s and 60’s. Always caring about others first.
Surviving family includes his wife LuAnn and his 3 sons, Wayne and Sarah of Renville, Ryan and Selena of Willmar and Scott and Elsa of Kerkhoven and his buddy Skyler. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Sandra and brother Larry.
