Roger Leon Macziewski was born on January 23, 1946, in Montevideo, MN, the son of Friebert and Petra (Gimmestad) Macziewski. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended school in Montevideo and was a graduate of Montevideo Senior High class of 1964.
Roger served his country for six years in the US Army National Guard as a rifleman/sharpshooter (1963 – 1969). Following his service he was employed at numerous jobs, including the turkey and flax straw industries. Most recently, he was employed by Groat’s Bar in Montevideo as custodian.
Roger was a kind, caring generous man who deeply loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed telling stories, making folks laugh and watching all kinds of sports. He was also a proud member of the Montevideo American Legion.
Surviving Roger are his brother Robert (& Julie) Macziewski, his sisters: Phyllis (& Michael) Fagen and Julie Iverson; 14 nieces and nephews- Kim, Troy, Don, Lyle, Doug, Kyle, Steve, Chad, Daniel, Angie, Krystal, Craig, Becky & Penny; great nieces & nephew; aunt Evelyn Eddy, uncle Jim Thoma, sister-in-law Shirley Macziewski and close friend ‘Groat’ (Gary Groothuis).
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents (Friebert in 1993 and Petra in 2006); brother Ronald (in 2014); brother-in-law Michael Iverson (in 2011) and several aunts & uncles.
