Robert Eugene Mittag was the son of Edwin and Evelyn Mittag. He was born on Sunday, April 17, 1932 in a farm home near Algona, Iowa and christened May 5, 1932 at Lotts Creek Lutheran Church. He attended school at Lotts Creek Parochial School, graduating from Algona High School in 1949. In high school, he read many library books and enjoyed baseball and wrestling. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on May 24, 1951 and was discharged May 4, 1954 as a Korean War Veteran. On February 20, 1955, he and Janyce Sill were married in Algona, Iowa and they moved to Minnesota in 1960. His favorite times were reading, Alaskan trips, family gatherings, hunting season and coffee sessions. Bob died on Sunday, November 9th at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 76. He donated his body to the Mayo Foundation for research and education. Bob is survived by his wife Janyce; children: Cathy and Ardell Brouwer of Maynard, Douglas and Shannon of Willmar, and Phillip of Clara City; grand children: Carlene Folkerts, Joshua and Susie Folkerts, Ty, Tory and Tanner Brouwer, foreign exchange student Heewon Kim, Matthew and Nathaniel Mittag; great grandchildren: Brittana and Asia; sister Marjorie Waldron of Omaha, Nebraska, one aunt and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and his daughter, Robin Folkerts.
