Robert George Jensen was born on November 20, 1923, in Minneapolis. He was baptized in the Baptist Church in Storden, MN in 1931 where he moved with his family at age 5. In 1946, he was later confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook. He attended school in Storden. Robert served his country during WWII in the United States Navy stationed on the destroyer USS Gridley, from December 30, 1941 until his honorable discharge on November 24, 1945. While on a 20 day leave, he was united in marriage to Ruth Patricia Rupp on October 13, 1943 at her parentsÂ? home in Westbrook. He was a proud member of the Granite Falls American Legion, where he was honored for 65 years of membership, Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts and was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and serving as custodian from 1962 Â? 1972. Robert worked in several occupations throughout his active adult life. He was employed by Westbrook and Walnut Grove Egg & Produce Companies, traveling to both the east and west coasts as well as to the gulf. He was a salesman for MoormanÂ?s Feed Company and later became a district manager. He was a salesman for the St. Paul Pioneer Press & Dispatch and served the community of Granite Falls as a police officer for 11 years. In the late 70Â?s he started his own handy man business, doing painting, carpentry and shingling until the age of 75. After retiring, Robert enjoyed traveling. He also loved to pheasant hunt and fishing with Pat and his sons and enjoyed fishing trips to Canada. He liked to go camping, do building projects and in later years, play bingo, shake dice and play cards with Pat in the Granite Falls Manor. Robert was called from this life on the afternoon of Wednesday August 21, 2013, at the Granite Falls Manor. He was 89 years of age. He is survived by his wife Patricia of Granite Falls; his children- Susan Kathy Johnson (& Theodore), of Granite Falls, Michael Robert Jensen (& Colleen Gibbs), of Mound, Richard Allan Jensen of Lakeville, James Edmund Jensen (& special friend Carol Quenemoen), of Red Wing, Penelope Ruth Â?PennyÂ? (& Dan) Paulson of Alexandria; sister Patricia Loppnow of Amarillo, Texas; sister-in-law Diane Rupp of Minneapolis; daughters-in-law Marsha Jensen Kouchar, Gayle Jensen Nellermoe and Cindy Jensen Swang; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; nieces, nephews and extended family. Preceding Robert in death were his mother and father; a son Gary (in 2000), a sister Joyce, (in 2012) and a brother-in-law James Rupp (in 2013).
