Robert Holzheimer, 92, of Montevideo, passed away at his residence on Saturday, July 16, 2022. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 21st at 10am at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to services on Thursday. Burial will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Holloway.
Robert Jack Holzheimer Sr. was born November 8, 1929, the son of Ferdinand “Bud” and Hazel (Hallaway) Holzheimer. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended Country School District 99 and continued his education at Concordia. He graduated from the Holloway High School. Following his graduation, he began farming with his father.
Robert was united in marriage with Vivian Schlieman on September 25, 1949, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfield Township, in a double wedding ceremony. They continued to farm and also fixed appliances in Benson in his spare time. He began assessing in Fairfield and Moyer Townships which was to be the start of his career. Robert also taught gun safety, coached baseball, played catcher with Jerry Koosman on the Holloway town team and was very active in the Holloway community.
In 1974, they moved to Holloway where he was employed with Moduline, in Montevideo, for a couple of years and worked part-time as a bar tender for the former Foxwood Lounge outside Appleton. He began full time on his career as an assessor for the City of Montevideo and retired as County Assessor in Madison with Lac qui Parle County. Following his retirement, he flagged for Griess Trucking with his in-laws.
Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his large and growing family. He passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at his residence in Montevideo. He was 92 years of age.
He Is survived by his children: Wanda (Ed) Ingraham of Colorado Springs, Colorado; David (Becky); Robert Jr; Keith (Shelly); Sheldon (Sandy); Bev (Tom) Wanke all of Montevideo and Joanne (Mike) Noyes of Sturgis, South Dakota; 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; siblings: Richard (Hoa) Holzheimer of Tampa, Florida and Cherie (Glen) Oliver of Juneau, Alaska; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Vivian, two grandsons: Ryan & Brian and one sister Jean.
