Robert “Bob” Dieken, 76, of Clara City, passed away on Wednesday, October 18,2023 at the Clara City Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 24th at 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5 to 7:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Robert “Bob” Arthur Dieken was born to Art & Marion (Gerdes) Dieken on March 19, 1947, in Montevideo, Minnesota. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He graduated from Clara City High School in 1965. Bob served his country in the Minnesota National Guard and was honorably discharged in November of 1971. On February 8, 1975, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Olson at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson, Minnesota. To this union two children were born, Allan & Cheryl.
Bob farmed in the Clara City area all his life. He raised pigs for many years. He also worked for VSC Inc. and Impact Plastics in Clara City. He was on the Clara City Farmers Elevator Board. He served as an usher, was on the Endowment Committee and the Lutheran Brotherhood at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Bob loved to go hunting, especially deer and pheasants, enjoying many successful years. He passed this interest on to his family. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their numerous sports and school activities and church programs. His great grandson enjoyed watching football with him on Sunday afternoons.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine; son Allan (Emily) Dieken of Clara City, daughter Cheryl (Mike) Colby of Clara City; grandchildren: Dominick (fiancée Tessa) Dieken of Prinsburg, Jasmine (special friend Tanner) Colby of Willmar, Leia & Paityn Colby, Elizabeth Wallace-Klein and Ethan Dieken all of Clara City; great grandson Hudson Dieken; sister Karen (Jerry) Bents of New London; brother-in-law Daryl Niemeyer of Clara City; sister and brothers-in-law: Pauline (Mike) Sager of Burnsville, Colleen (Al) Marcus of Redwood Falls; Aunt Virginia Dieken of Naples, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Art & Marion Dieken; parents-in-law Dwain & Phyllis Olson; sister Kathy Niemeyer and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
