Richard Sand Profile Photo
Richard (Rick) Sand, loving husband, son, father, brother, and grandfather. He was born September 30th, 1962 to Tom and Carol Sand in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. The family moved to Granite Falls in December 1965, where Rick attended school and graduated in 1981.

In high school Rick was known for his athleticism; he attended state and was the recipient of many awards. He enjoyed sports, motorcycling, hunting, camping and took on horses with his wife, Kris after they married on May 21, 1988. Together Rick and Kris bought a hobby farm in August of 1989. Rick labored to remodel the house and landscape the yard to a sanctuary were they raised their four kids, Wyatt, Holdyn, Chyanne, and Skyler. For the last 17 years, Rick was employed by MN West College.

Rick was a man of great character. A sweet, kind soul with a gentle spirit and a giving, unselfish heart. He loved and adored his family. He always made time to help his friends and family with their home projects and never expected anything in return. He had a strong silence to him. He was there for you and was always approachable. He had so many close friends and family and he especially loved his garage crew.

Rick was an inspiration, showing all of us how to live life even with cancer. He never complained. Rick passed on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 surrounded by many close family and friends.

Rick is survived by his wife Kris, parents Tom and Carol Sand; children: Bridget (Brad), Wyatt (Tess), Holdyn (Jacke), Chyanne (Kolten), Skyler (Cole); grandchildren Madison, Connor, Logan, Matthew, Paisley; brother Tim (Jill); niece Amber (Nate) Fromm, great-nephews Owen and Brock; nephew Tyler; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
