Richard Loren Ridens was born on Dec. 28, 1956, in Granite Falls, MN, the son of Clifton and Marlene (Hegg) Ridens. Richard married Debbie in 1976 and had two babies.
Richard drove long haul trucks most of his adult life, where he made many lifelong friends. He loved taking his nieces and nephews on many of his long hauls, treating them to experiences such as Salt Lake City, the Mormon Tabernacle in Utah, rock climbing in Las Vegas, NV, gator country in Florida and any small town park he came across. He taught all of his nieces and nephews how to ride their bikes down famous ‘snake hill’ and took them sledding at Chinhinta Park in Montevideo.
Richard had many sides. He played ‘Ironman’ for the kids and sang ‘You are My Sunshine’ to his great nieces. He loved to hear a good story and tell stories of his own on everything ranging from hauling bees, wind mill blades and of transporting motorcycle doors and sail boat fuel. Larry started Richard riding his Softail Harley. Richard gave Larry a hard time about riding a Honda, but secretly envied him because the Honda was faster than his Harley.
Richard will be fondly remembered for many things including his ability to make kids and old ladies laugh and smile, his strong, stubborn, opinionated but gentle and soft-hearted personality and his love of family and friends.
Surviving Richard are his mother Marlene; his son Jesse; sisters Renee, Robin and Rachel (& Keith); nieces & nephews Tarl & Cici (Sadie & Sofie), Heather (Ian & Joseph), Christopher, Ryan, Braxton (Kayson & Jaycie), Nicholas, Brianna, Ashley & Charles (Damion & Holden), Joshua & Bethany.
He was preceded in death by his daughters Deanna & Amanda; his father Clifton; brother Ronald; nephew Aaron and great niece Maycie.
