Richard Ravenswaay

Richard Van Ravenswaay was born October 19, 1931, the son of Anthony & Gerdena Van Ravenswaay, in Maurice, Iowa. He served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in November of 1955. Richard was united in marriage to Shirley Ann DeRaad on December 27, 1955, in Sioux Center, Iowa. They lived on the family farm in Sioux Center until 1965, when they moved to Montevideo, Minnesota to continue farming until their retirement.Richard passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2009, at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo. He was 77 years of age. He is survived by his wife Shirley; one daughter Pam Van Ravenswaay of Brownsville, Texas; three sons: Carl (Wendy); Alan (DeLaura) all of Montevideo and Joel of Jenison, Michigan; six grandchildren: Tara, David, Anna, Emily, John and Laura; and five sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter Karyn; and three brothers.
