Richard "Dick" Paulson was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota on February 5, 1926, the son of Maurice and Beulah (Rossman) Paulson. As a young boy, his family moved to Grove City, Minnesota where he attended school and graduated in 1944. Following graduation, Dick enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served until 1945. In1947 he married Patricia "Pat" Lawson of Grove City. After his marriage to Pat, he attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. Following his graduation, he worked for a few years in Minneapolis and then joined his father in the retail hardware business in Maynard. In 1953, Dick and Pat welcomed a son Jay. Dick owned Paulson's Our Own Hardware store in Maynard for about 25 years. He retired in 1977, and continued to live in Maynard until 2005.In 2005, Dick moved from Maynard to Copper Glen Assisted Living Residence in Montevideo until 2007. He then moved to Minnetonka.While living in Maynard, Dick was active in his community. He served as a volunteer fireman and fire chief, city councilman, American Legion, Mayor and all around ?Mr. Fixit?. The Fraternal Order of Masons and the Shriners were a very important part of Dick's life. He enjoyed taking children to the circus as well as participating in the parades in the neighboring towns.Dick passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Hopkins. He was 82 years of age.He is survived by his son Jay (Sue) Paulson of Shorewood; granddaughter Marisa; his sister Eileen (Anro) Erickson of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Pat.
