Richard Dwaine Nokleby was born October 16, 1935 in Mandt Township, Chippewa County, Minnesota, the son of Palmer and LuElla Nokleby. He passed away November 4, 2011 at the Clara City Care Center. Richard was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Jevnaker Lutheran Church rural Montevideo. He grew up and attended country school in Mandt Township, going on to graduate from Montevideo High School with the class of 1953. Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1957 where he was a heavy equipment operator. He was stationed in Greenland and received his honorable discharge in October of 1959. On July 7, 1962 Richard was united in marriage to Dorothy Streich at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. To this union two sons were born. Richard began working for NSP in 1960 before retiring in 1993. Along with his wife Dorothy he also owned Nokleby's Bootery from 1972 to 1994. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and playing cards. Richard especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's events, and going fishing in Canada with with family and friends. Richard and Dorothy spent winters in Mesa, Arizona where he could be found hiking and four wheeling in the desert. Richard is survived by his wife: Dorothy Nokleby of Granite Falls; sons: Brian (Kathy) Nokleby of Humboldt, IA; Kevin (Kelly) Nokleby of Granite Falls; grandchildren: Breanna, Landon, Chase, and Shane; sister: Janice (Fred) Kunze of Blaine, MN; nieces: Kari (Jeff) Kunze-Hoeg and Jeni (Jay Williams) Kunze. He was preceded in death by his parents.
