He was born October 21, 1960 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Oak and Beverly (DeWall) Newhouse and was baptized and confirmed into the catholic faith. As a young boy, the family lived in Sioux City, Platteville, Wisconsin, Rochester, and Golden Valley. Richard loved all sports and really enjoyed baseball and football. He graduated from Park Center High School with the class of 1979. Richard moved to Montevideo following high school to be closer to his family before moving to Sioux City. In 1997, Richard returned to Montevideo to open and run his own business, Midwest Flooring. During his career, his work kept him traveling around Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting and going on fishing trips with his family. Richard’s favorite time of year was during the Christmas season, and spending time with his family was his highest priority. Richard is survived by his daughters: April (Randy VanHorn) Newhouse of Princeton; Melissa (Brad) Hill of Jordan; grandchildren: Conner, Masyn, Aryahna, and Autumn; parents: Oak and Beverly Newhouse of Breezy Point; brother: Craig Newhouse of Spooner, Wisconsin; sister: Vicki Mack of Brainerd; nephew: Dylan Newhouse; nieces: Michelle (Nate) Foster, Abbie (Jake) Johnson, Sara (Brian) Anderson; great nephews and a great niece; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Edna and Richard Newhouse, John DeWall, Julia Ross, and two aunts: Donna Holmes and Diane Slowik.
