Richard Ernest Macziewski was born on September 13, 1931, in Grace Township, Chippewa County, MN, the son of Arthur and Martha Macziewski. He was baptized in Grace Lutheran Church on September 27, 1931 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Lutheran Church of Havelock Township on May 27, 1945. He attended country school and the Morris Agricultural School.On March 25, 1952, Richard was united in marriage to Mary Himley at Mandt Lutheran Church, north of Montevideo, MN. He farmed all of his life and was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Havelock Township. Richard served on the Equity Elevator Board, the Country School District #311 Board of Education, the Minnesota Corn Processors Board, Farm Credit Services Board, Church Board and other community organizations. Richard was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and friend to many. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, taking trips with Mary and above all, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He had a keen sense of humor and those that knew him knew of his ability to accept the challenges he was presented in life dealing with numerous physical and health issues. Richard also was very proud of their home on Lobster Lake and loved living in the Alexandria area. On Thursday September 23, 2010, Richard was called peacefully from this life at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria. He was 79 years of age. Surviving family include his wife Mary of Alexandria, MN; his children- Gary Macziewski and Rick (& Sandra) Macziewski of Montevideo, MN and Susan (& Stan) Kleinhuizen of Alexandria, MN; eight grandchildren; one sister Lorna Cobb and a brother Mike Macziewski. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Steve in July 2010 and one sister Shirley.
