Richard Larson was born February 2, 1924 to Frida and Olof Larson in Montevideo. He died peacefully on Saturday, May 28th while a patient in the Audie Murphy Veteran’s Hospital in San Antonio, TX. Dick was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. After graduating from Montevideo High School, he attended St. Olaf College, Luther College, Washington University and University of Colorado graduating in 1949.

Dick served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II as a First Lieutenant. Flying as Wing Lead Bombardier in the 15th Air Force, he was awarded medals for exceptional meritorious achievement including the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with cluster, 5 Battle Stars and 2 unite Presidential citations. Discharged in 1946, Dick returned to school.

On September 6, 1947 he was united in marriage to Borgny Meium of Jackson. Three sons were born to this union: Stephen, David and Paul. Dick was active with Red Cross Bloodmobile, Boy Scouts, VFW, American Legion, Police Commission, and Gay 90’s Quartet. He had a passionate love for his family, his church and the American Flag.

Cherishing his memory are his sons Stephen of San Diego, David and Pam of Texas, Paul of Spicer; 5 grandchildren: Rachel (Sean), Nicholas, Sarah (Colin), Matthew (Holly), and Jody; great grandsons Forester and Jasper, and good friends Tom & Gwen Bowler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Paul & Bob, and his beloved wife Borg.
