Renetta Helen Friberg was born to William John and Linda (Ott) Mattke on August 4th, 1920 in Morgan, Minnesota. She was baptized at Evangelical Lutheran Church of New Ulm on August 22, 1920 and later confirmed her faith at that same altar. Her formal education was received in Morton. The young couple settled in Montevideo where they raised their son, Greg.In addition to caring for her family, Rene joined the staff of First National Bank in Montevideo and became a well known smiling face in the downtown drive-up. She was so very proud of "Max" her faithful pooch companion and took him with her whenever she could.
