Rebecca Ann Hempel was born November 17, 1941 in Montevideo the daughter of Vernon and Doris (Thomasson) Hempel. She passed away on January 28, 2015 at Riverside Assisted Living in Granite Falls.
Baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Granite Falls, Becky grew up in Granite Falls and attended school there, graduating with the Class of 1959.
On January 7, 1961 she was united in marriage to David Baker at St. Paul Lutheran Church. To this union, her four children were born.
Becky worked numerous clerical jobs, managed banquet services at Donavon’s Conference Center, cared for the home, and raised her kids as they lived in Minneapolis, Redwood Falls and Abbotsford, Wisconsin. David passed away in 1985 and she moved with her family to Granite Falls.
She worked as a Community Relations and Marketing Coordinator at Project Turnabout in Granite Falls for 23 years before retiring. Becky was active in church and community events, worked with Western Fest and was instrumental with the start of the Project Turnabout Caring and Sharing Golf Tournament. She was also very active in the YME Mat Club.
On July 11, 2009 Becky was united in marriage to Gary Coulter at the Presbyterian Church in Maynard. They made their home in Granite Falls.
Becky enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed attending their events.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Coulter of Granite Falls; children: Julie Baker (Doug) of Maynard; Jeffrey Baker of Fairmont; Jennifer Eid of Big Lake; Jason (Tricia) Baker of Fort Mill, South Carolina; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; Gary’s children: Glenis (Michael) Elliot of Granite Falls; Michael (Jana) Coulter of Germany; Scott (Angela) Coulter of Apex, North Carolina; and Gary’s 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
