Phyllis Stavne, age 81, of Granite Falls, Minnesota died Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Clarkfield Care Center.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls. A Time of Sharing will be at 6:00 PM.
Phyllis Marie Evenson was born on October 19, 1941, in Clarkfield, Minnesota, the daughter of Noble and Hannah (Holland) Evenson. She grew up in Boyd where she was baptized and confirmed in her faith. Phyllis attended school in Boyd and graduated in 1958.
On December 16, 1959, Phyllis was united in marriage to Rodger Stavne in Renville, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Granite Falls, Minnesota. Phyllis worked as a cook in various places in the area, some of those places were Project Turnabout, Our House restaurant, and Firefly Casino. After Rodger died in 1990, Phyllis moved to Reno, Nevada for 5 years to be with her sister until moving home to Granite Falls.
Phyllis enjoyed baking, sewing, crocheting, and bird watching. Even though her job was often cooking for others, she didn’t stop cooking at work. At home you would find her in the kitchen putting something together. Phyllis was a strong woman and always kind. Her family enjoyed her fun, loving nature and will miss her dearly.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Lennis (Judy) Stavne of Willmar, Clayton (special friend, Barb Rush) of Granite Falls, Brenda (Mark) Lantz of Granite Falls, Michael Stavne of Granite Falls, James (Ursula) Stavne of Granite Falls; 16 grandchildren; numerous great and great, great grandchildren; Margareth “Maggie” Sveback of Granite Falls, Gail Dahlager of Blaine; brother-in-law, Ray Harris of Reno, NV; sister-in-law, Lorraine Brelie of Renville; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Noble and Hannah Evenson; husband, Rodger; stillborn son; granddaughter, Erica Grothe; sister, Naomi Harris.
