Phyllis Enevoldsen

Phyllis Lorraine Enevoldsen was born November 1, 1927, the daughter of Emil Albert August Carl & Mary Martha Kathryn Tesch, in rural Canby. She was baptized on the family farm on November 3, 1927, and confirmed on June 1, 1941 in Canby at the American Lutheran Church. She graduated from the Canby High School and went on to attend Beauty School in Mankato. She was united in marriage to Preston Enevoldsen on January 3, 1953, at the American Lutheran Church in Canby. Together they farmed in Lac qui Parle County. In the early years she owned and operated Phyllis? Beauty Shoppe in Clarkfield. Phyllis enjoyed cooking and baking and was known for her homemade buns, buttermilk pancakes and lefse. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Phyllis passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at her home in Montevideo. She was 82 years of age. She is survived by her children: LaVonne Stegeman of Montevideo; Gary (Corla) of Montevideo; Lois Kruse of Bloomington; Mark (Sue) of Montevideo; Karla Viessman of Platte Center, Nebraska; Gregg (Karen) of Montevideo; David (Robin) of Watson; her grandchildren: Jessica Dreifurst; Tricia Haas; Curtis & Megan Enevoldsen; Garrett Feldhake; Danielle Enevoldsen; Sarah Gehring; Kayla Berkeland; Katie, Michelle & Elizabeth Viessman; Erika, Katelyn & Jessilyn Enevoldsen; Jessica & Jeramiah Peters and Tiffany Ostendorf; Kaitlynne, Jackson & Preston Enevoldsen; great grandchildren: Brock & Lexi Dreifurst; Carson Haas; Baylee, Kaden & Rory Gehring; Grace & Ellison Berkeland; Gracelyn Hayunga; Kloee Peters and Chase Ostendorf; siblings: Wallace (Sue) Tesch of Montevideo; Kathy (Arvin) Meyer of Hutchinson and Warren (Kay) Tesch of Cumming, Georgia; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Preston in 2001; stillborn brother in 1927; twin sister Lois in 1928; mother in 1933; sister Janice Shelstad in 1969; granddaughter Jacalyn Haas in 1979; father and step mother in 1994 and many sisters and brothers-in-law.
