Peter Pfenning, 75, of Granite Falls, died Tuesday, October 20th at the Granite Falls Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations are prefered to the Saron Lutheran Church.
Peter Andrew Pfenning was born September 14, 1945, the son of Peter & Vivian (Rothi) Pfenning in St. Paul. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He graduated from Sibley High School in 1963. He attended Memphis A. School before serving his country in the United States Navy in 1965. He was honorably discharged in August of 1969. Pete was united in marriage to Linda Sather on December 20, 1969, in Emanuel Lutheran Church in St. Paul. They were married 50 years and ten months.
He attended school at Control Data and also worked for Northwest Airlines. Following his schooling he went to work for Docutel for two years in Hartford, Connecticut. He was transferred to Minneapolis and then to Atlanta, Georgia. He then went to work for Gerber Garment in Dallas, Texas. He finished his career working for Immigration and Naturalization Service and retired in 2006. They moved to the country north of Granite Falls and enjoyed their retirement. Pete worked part time for the NAPA store in Granite Falls. He was a member of the Jaycees in Douglasville, Georgia and a youth leader in Garland, Texas in the early 1980’s. His most memorable trips were the two he spent with Linda in Alaska in 2013 and 2018.
He is survived by his wife Linda, sons: Jhae (Ivette) Pfenning of Gilbert, Arizona and Andy Pfenning of Granite Falls; grandchildren: Jayleen and Marcelo; great grandson Zeke; sister Helen Pfenning of Portland, Oregon and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Barb Harris.
