Penny Johnson, 76, of Granite Falls, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the RenVilla Nursing Home. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 26th at 11:00 am at Hawk Creek Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Saturday.
Penelope Kathleen Johnson was born May 30, 1947, the daughter of James & Martha Schelsky, in Evanston, Illinois. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. She graduated from the Mount Prospect High School in 1965.
On April 1, 1967, Penny was united in marriage to Ronald Johnson in Illinois where they made their home. From this union two children were born Lori & Gary. In 1981, the couple moved to Granite Falls. Penny worked in the medical field as a nurse’s aide and with the ambulance squad. She later worked at Dallas II and helped out at the American Legion. Penny and Ron enjoyed canoeing and fishing on the Minnesota River. They also spent a lot of time dancing. Penny was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years. She cherished her time spent with the grandchildren.
Surviving Penny is her daughter Lori (Terry) Fagen of Sacred Heart, MN; her son Gary Johnson (Patti), of Urbandale, Iowa; grandchildren Travis Fagen, Trevor (Shelby) Fagen, Kayla Johnson, Bradly Johnson, Brittany (Jacob) Worrell, Zach (Natalie) Aus & Nick (Danielle Christensen) Aus; great grandchildren: Teagan, Tenley and Grayson; brother James (Marsha) Schelsky, brother-in-law Leonard (Karen) Johnson; numerous friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ron in 2011 and sister Joyce.
