Pearl Elizabeth (Mullins) Toftness was born August 14, 1921 to Luella (Schuldt) and Herbert E. Mullins. She was baptized (1921) and confirmed (1936) at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She graduated from the Montevideo High School in 1939. On March 1st, 1942, Pearl was united in marriage to Allen Jay Toftness from Boyd, Minnesota. They were blessed with five children: Elizabeth, Dennis, Diane, Janet and Nancy.
Pearl worked for many years at several downtown businesses (Woolworth’s, Monte Cleaners, Thompson Drug, Credit Bureau, Unger’s Furniture). She seemed to know everyone that shopped in Montevideo! She was a long time member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church enjoying her Julia Circle meetings and singing in the choir.
Pearl was a kind, strong, loving, positive attitude and hard working soul. She loved playing golf, working in her garden areas, doing crossword puzzles, playing bridge in her many bridge groups and especially spending time with her family. Pearl loved being in the mix if any of her family members were doing projects and was always willing to lend a hand. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life.
Pearl is survived by her children: Dennis Toftness, Diane (Lyle) Olson, Janet (Chip) Worsech, Nancy (Jim) Welch. Eight grandchildren: Brian (Amanda) Reinken, Derrick (Stacey) Reinken, Chad (Erin) Toftness, Matthew (Allison) Olson, Marcy (Steven) Brush, Stacy (Brian) Worsech, Annie (Andy) Worsech, Jennifer (Hermilo) Dulyx.
